We begin with a visual inspection and locate wall ties using specialist equipment. Where access permits, small inspection holes and a borescope allow us to examine sampled ties and the surrounding cavity.
Where cavity wall insulation obstructs the view, selected bricks may need to be removed to inspect the ties, cavity width and inner leaf. We agree the required access and making-good arrangements as part of the survey scope. Rendering and restricted access can affect the method.
